Trustpilot is an open, online review platform where consumers can share feedback and businesses can build trust through verified customer reviews. You can read and write (if you are a genuine StratNav user) a review of StratNav on TrustPilot.
Zapier is a no-code automation platform that connects your favourite apps and services, allowing you to automate repetitive tasks without writing code.
In this example, we will use Zapier to retrieve the Trustpilot score (star rating) and count of reviews, and log them as KPI performance measurements to StratNav each week.
You can see the resulting flow in the image to the right.
Zapier steps
Sign up or sign in to Zapier, create a new Zap and add the following steps:
- Use Schedule by Zapier to tell Zapier when you want your task to run. In this instance, we want it to run every Thursday morning in preparation for our weekly management review meeting.
Schedule by Zapier is one of Zapier's many built-in automation tools. It can be used to trigger Zapier automations using a range of time-based settings. - Use Web Parser by Zapier to read StratNav's Trustpilot page. This contains the score and count of reviews. We simply input the URL for our Trustpilot page, which is https://www.trustpilot.com/review/stratnavapp.com
Web Parser by Zapier is another one of Zapier's built-in tools. It can read the content of any publicly available web page. - Use Formatter by Zapier to extract StratNav's Trustpilot score from the web page read by the Web Parser in step 2.
Formatter by Zapier is the third and last of Zapier's built-in tools used in this example. It includes a range of tools for extracting and formatting text. - Use StratNav's Zapier Integration to send the date from step 1 and the score from step 3 to StratNav.
Our integration will help you validate Zapier to StratNav (i.e. give it permission to access your projects) after which you can create a new measurement instance by giving it your project ID, KPI ID, and then telling it to use the date from step 1 (in YYYY-MM-DD format) and the score from step 3.
You can find the Project ID and KPI ID by navigating to the KPI in StratNav and checking the URL bar. You will see something that looks like this:
https://www.stratnavapp.com/Projects/10a573de-4990-4cb6-9c2a-9db3936198d1/PerformanceIndicators/78e02267-e03b-4be1-b050-812c26237b13
The first bold number is your Project ID, and the second is your KPI ID. Your numbers will be different to these, and unique to you. So be sure to copy and paste them exactly. - Use Formatter by Zapier again, this time to read the number of reviews from the web page read by the Web parser in step 2.
- User StratNav's Zapier Integration to send the number of reviews from step 5, together with the Project ID, KPI ID and the data from step 1.
That's it, once we publish that Zap, then each week it will read our Trustpilot page and update our Trustpilot Score and Number of Trustpilot reviews KPIs with the latest values.
Other Examples
Zapier has a wide range of tools for connecting to other applications and extracting data from them. And as long as it can get the data, you can use it to update a KPI in StratNav. For example, you can use it to get values from:
- a web page (as shown above).
- an update you received by email.
- a value from a spreadsheet such as Google Sheets.
- marketing metrics, such as number of customers, transactions, leads or deals (either open or closed) from your CRM system.
- financial data from your accounting system (like Xero, Quickbooks or Freshbooks).
- task management metrics such as tasks completed or overdue from your project management system (such as Trello, Asana or Monday).
- generative AI (like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Zapier's own built-in AI) to work out at KPI value for you.
- any application that can send a webhook to Zapier.
- almost any application API.
You're only limited by your imagination (and the systems you use).
